You’re still sleeping,
I snuck outside to escape from your sounds.
I feel the heartbeat of the earth through the soles of my feet,
The breath of each plant through my hands.
I can hear the voice of the wind whispering to my soul.
I don’t need you to define me.
I am my own.
You’ve always said that you loved me that way.
I wonder if you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Wrapped in a cool sheet I walk through the dawn.
I love the feel of the dew drops flipping against my legs as i run through the grass.
I come out here every morning.
So far you haven’t noticed.
Maybe one day I will bring you with me.
We will awake and run naked through the wet grass-
laughing with contentment, we will lie on the beach and watch the sun.
Until then I will run alone,
I will enjoy this solitude in hopes of being one with the world.

As Shakespeare said, "To thine own self be true". It's a grand thing that you are confident enough within yourself that you do not seek another to define you. And no one ever really knows what they're getting themselves into, or half of us would run like the wind.
You've chosen a great painting to enhance your piece, Poet. Thank you for entering my contest. Good luck.

Thank you. I just judged another one a little while ago. I had some incredible entries in it. This one will be a good one, too, I think.
