I took this picture of my deck in the middle of the summer. I sure do miss the warm, sunny weather.

a very sad image here...penned beautifully...butterfly's are Gods little creatures.
they sit on his finger and whisper all our little secrets
and at summer's end when all the flowers wilt
you can bet those butterflies are aflutter in heaven

Thank you! I like to do "traditional" and "modern" haiku. It sort of depends on my state of mind. Right now I am trying to find some order and control in my personal life so I guess writing to a form helps me feel more in control? As a real life English teacher, I always teach the "traditional" form first, then I explain the deeper concepts behind the form and how to create a purer haiku using as few syllables as possible. Good luck in you classes!

    Lovely picture.

That's a gorgeous flower. I certainly empathize with your feelings about the butterflies. They're such charming creatures, and often wish flowers could continue through the winter.

Thank you so much! I'm not really sure if I'm much of a poet, but I thought I play around with it. I just started taking a class where we've been reading a lot of poetry, so it's definitely been an experiment. I really enjoyed your haiku. That last line is my favorite part.

I miss it too, I want the flowers to be around all the time, but I do live in a state that sees all the seasons. Will miss the butterflies, all of nature's summer wonders. This is an amazing haiku. Meloncoly blues. Excellent. Blessings.

      thank you so much!

I live in CT so I, too, get to see all the seasons. I think, though, that I could live in a place that was warm and sunny all year round. I do get the "butterflies' remorse" this time every year. We have a "killer frost warning" for tomorrow night. It will be so sad to wake up to my dead impatiens......Stay warm dear heart!
