Daddy
Nights were so lonely when you forgot to come home
I tried to be brave by saying I didn't mind being alone
Scrapes upon my knees and blisters on my toes
you must have forgotten the band aids and Kleenex for my nose
last night when I sang my first solo before a crowd
maybe you hadn't heard me because I was to sad to sing loud
I found that book daddy you said you would read me before bed
but you probably to busy to remember the promise you said
its alright daddy I know you have a lot on your mind
and I don't want you to get feeling as if your love is being timed
but daddy there's something I really need you to do
believe me when I say I'll never forget to remember you.
Love, your daughter
Author notes
Its sad that sometimes we all forget to stop and smell the roses, but sometimes the little roses are much more important then we realize.
Remember to take time to tell family you love them, regret is an ugly pain to live with.

Such a sad write!! Indeed, family lack of love and compassion can be one the most hurtful things and yet it's not easy to forget family members or the love we craved from them. That's a deep and uniwue take on the prompt. Thanks for entering and good luck.

Bitter sweet....Sometimes we get so busy making a living we forget to make a life.
A beautiful reminder that it's the little things that makes life worth the living...Thanks for this poem!!

Breathtaking. Heartbreaking. It was absolutely amazing. It is so sad and you put all that emotion into a little paragraph. I am in deep awe. Thank you so much for sharing. Truly the best write I've seen in my whole time in Allpoetry. Keep it up, I'm totally speechless.

Thank you so much for your kind uplifting words, I haven't been writing lately and today I just jotted a few things down that were in my head, reading your comment has made me realize that I still have what it takes to create beautiful poetry, and for this my dear friend, I am grateful!
