Paint a Pretty Picture

When you are a child with your golden curls and smiles,
You paint a pretty picture with your crayons.
The world you make unfolds to places left untold,
A gentle breeze, the brightness of the sun
You laugh and smile and play.
No cares to come your way
Paint a pretty picture little one.
Then grow we go we must,
The years they pass so fast.
Painting pretty pictures with our pens
Through sweat and steam and style,
Sometimes we lose our smile,
Forgetting all the colors we knew then.
A friend can come and go,
But still on we grow, and
days to weeks to months spread to years.
Then someone comes along,
and shares a laugh and song.
Then the canvass begins to paint itself again.
Another of life’s surprise,
There’s light in your eyes,
the worlds your canvass yet to be unrolled.
Paint a pretty world, all the colors of the rainbow.
Beauty, hugs, and joy in your smile.
Laughter and some pain,
Sunshine and the rain
Paint a pretty world with your love.

I write poetry about things I feel. Not looking to be a pro. Comments welcome, but extreme criticism is not really necessary. Thanks, I hope you enjoy.
