Revere the airplane on its thousandth trip flown
Respect the bird and its natural gift
Gaze upon buildings as their purposes shift
Let your eyes scan the vast rolling hills
Consider the nature of pharmaceutical pills
Capsules of minerals drawn from the earth
Manufactured joy still has its worth
Skyscrapers shroud a beautiful sky
While scarring the land, yet we still comply
Components pulled from beautiful scenes
Look hard in their walls, they're just as clean
_______________________________________________
Mountains chiseled into dwellings
Power pulled from oceans swelling
Mangled in natures we cannot break from
Consider the origin, it's very humdrum
We creatures of land
Have a common home
Our products like sand
Fall through the comb
Filter your lens
Through natures eyes
The truth depends
On all under these skies.
Author notes
Consider the comb. A mechanism of parting, of organizing. That which goes through it is set into it's rightful place. Felt I needed to elaborate on that a bit, word usage a bit forced to fit the rhyme, yet I feel it still has some meaning.
This piece is really just an illustration of a mental torrent, a somewhat depression-ridden day, hence the consideration of pharmaceuticals, led into something resembling bliss.

This is really quite wonderful and I have read it acouple of times so far because the flow of this really sounds so good. Your piece and your authors notes tell me much but reading your piece on its own before the notes, I saw someone who was just a little peeved and pleading for all to just give nature her hand and stop and listen a while. You also mention that your rhyme sounded a bit forced....It sounded great to me. Your explanation on the use of the word 'Pharmacaeuticals' was very good and allowed me to understand a deeper more poingnant meaning in the whole piece. Thanks for sharing.
