Raindrops

In  the magic of the raindrops, will my tears be washed away?
I thought my grief had made a home in my heart to stay.
So I went walking on a rainy day, to find a four leaf clover,
But the rain got in my way, and my eyes were misted over.

Why did I think to find one, while the clouds still hid the sun?
With grey-washed skies above me, the storm in my heart had won.
Yet bending my head ‘neath the rain, I thought of a childrood day:
Playing ball on a carefree summer eve, finding my way.

I hit that ball with a crack, and took off in the blinding sun,
When right in my path, without even looking, I found one!
I stopped to pick it up while team mates cried, “run, run!”
But I got that four-leaf clover AND I finished that homerun!

Just thinking of that moment made my heart skip a beat,
I  looked out through my tears, and saw them at my feet:
Raindrops, covering clover, just sparkling in the rain!
And when I started looking, I forgot about my pain.

The more I looked, the more I saw, so much beauty to be found!
There was magic in the raindrops, and life was all around;
I looked up at the sky through a million drops of power -
My heart was singing in the now of being in that hour!

Yes I went looking for a four leaf clover, on a rainy day,
And while my eyes were open, raindrops washed my tears away;
I didn’t find a four-leaf clover, on that dark and rainy morn,
But with eyes wide open, looking, my spirit felt reborn!

Please tell me what you think

    Best Ever

    I think this is probably the best poem you have written yet. Very inspiring. Each line seems to get an emotional response to me. It was almost as if I am standing beside you searching again for that 4 leaf clover and searching for the fullness and beauty of life even with the hard things someone must go through. It's almost worth it to see that with the void of darkness there is light and it shines a beauty on all.

  • Wow

    I really liked this poem... it is very good... I really wouldn't change a thing about it. But it makes me think of how much I love the rain. and how it seems to wash the pain away... Keep writing. You are AMAZING!

    Just goes to show how we can change our minds and attitudes if we want. I enjoyed reading this poem of good rhyme and rhythm.

    'tis a very fine write, indeed. You have expressed your thoughts quite well. Imagery; rhythm, and rhyme are just fine. Thanks for sharing this one with us.
