Something.

Shifting, without effort
the thought sifts through
fingers.
This is in your gasp;
fight or let it linger?
Let the opportunity  hesitate
(tongue held mid-sentence).

"Yes, yes. Go pack.  Pick it all up
in hopes of what you leave behind
can do the same."

"Of all people! -You-
step on the pedestal? I.."

"Don't forget your coat;
it gets awfully cold at night."

This is love attempting indifference.

Author notes

After a couple hours of writing, I combined the bits of stanzas and dialogue (from a different story I was writing) and put them together in this. There will be more.
