the moon refused to rise that night
a misty fog consumed all light
the wind it moaned a sad sad song
my heart of hearts knew it was wrong
a mournful howling pierced the air
of goosebumps I was now aware
a rusted gate creaked mournfully
scaring the life right out of me
into the graveyard I did creep
on sacred ground where the dead sleep
my flashlight and crowbar in hand
on to the crypt of Sarah Brande
a dare was made I did accept
into this place I slowly crept
to pry a rock from her old tomb
on this, a night of darkest moon
I should have kept my bold mouth shut
but I'd been drinking old rot gut
pride done got the best of me
now on a fools errand but want to flee
my light finds the block I'm sent to retrieve
my hands are now shaking, I want so to leave
put my crowbar 'tween the blocks and the mortar
and lean in hard hoping to transport 'er
a grating scrape, a pop, a roar
it tumbles to the dusty floor
the tomb starts filling with fell haze
looking around in quite a daze
the door slams shut, oh no, now what?
a sinking feeling in my gut
an apparition soon appears
my knees are shaking with my fears
she stood before me in her glory
assessing me, her new found quarry
my feet seemed frozen to the floor
no chance to make it to the door
I heard her words inside my head
she spoke the language of the dead
I understood her every word
now with her here I stay interred
