My Love is the Moon

For the moon glows in the night sky
Standing as a silent witness
Death plagues the earth in the form
Of fall and leaves fall every time

The ashes are swept in the morning rush
The seasons must take their toll
And initiate the beginning and the end
Of life and love

Pouring down rain cleanses the earth and
Illuminates the violence of
Wilted corpses that liter the ground of
Leaves, flowers and twigs that bend and
Break under the soles of her shoes
That are never properly laced
Just tucked in
Like her problems

She pulls out a cigarette to keep the
Chill out of her head
The cold breath of earths cruelty

She turns up the muse so not even she
Can hear herself or the cries of those
She has inflicted like winter

The burden of youth
The trouble of love and falling out of love

The wind knocks through her like shes
Not even there
As if she has become one with it
But the coldness she feels like a knife in her hand,
Shimmers like a shooting star in the sky that
Guides the moon to look upon her
And see that the knife she holds
Is plunged deep within me

And like a season
My heart is running its course and
Is being choked by the coldness that
Flows out of her mouth like the
Cold night air and sends shivers
Down my spine as
The rain falls and washes away the
Blood that drips from my inflicted wounds

But she is too lost in her stereo
Too engulfed in the smoke
Emitted from her cigarette to realize
That love is not a season
It is a foundation
It is the sun

The pain will fade away
The rains cleansing as spring
But I will always be there
For my love
Is the moon.
