Blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner
Lined up in a row
Ready to be applied
So that no one will know
That this happy, blissful marriage
Isn’t happy, not at all
That her swelling, blackened eye
Didn’t get here from a fall
Blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner
Lined up in a row
She wears them both religiously
So that no one will know
That her make-up hides
The lies inside
But as she hides
The violence grows
The longer her silence continues to be
The harder it becomes for this poor wife to see-
That a man that says he loves you
Would never beat you with his keys.
Blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner
Lined up in a row
Neither will do her good now
As he delivers his final blow-
He hits her head
And soon she’s dead,
Lying cold and broken on the floor,
Because
Blue eyeshadow and black eyeliner
Failed to save her long before
Blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner,
She will use them
Never more
