Argentine Tango

Eyes lock as music’s cadence draws them together,
Two bodies flush, languorous grace glides forever,
As Argentine tango complete focus steals,
Complexity drives staccato flicks of sharp heels.

On cue, woman jerks head back away from man’s gaze,
As across his leg in a corte, she is laid,
While her left leg wraps around his hip like a glove,
She surrenders to the man who towers above.

Stealthily they dance, movements quick alter with slow,
Seemingly languid, the two careful as they flow,
Music’s demands gladly filled for passion and grace,
As the dance ends, each goes their own separate way.

Author notes

The picture shows a couple dancing an Argentine tango. They are in corte (pronounced cortay) position (woman is draped along man's leg). Argentine tango is a very difficult dance as it alters between slow and very fast movements where the woman flicks her heels very quickly between the man's legs. It demands concentration!
