blustery days and chilled nights
remind me of the hot days just past
of smothering heat and blistering sun
relishing the day’s cool breeze
i sit here alone this autumn eve
embraced by the comforting arms
of autumn’s sweet reflections
and contemplate the days ahead
farmers harvesting their final crops
chopping wood to keep us warm
anticipating winter’s delights
of snowmen smiling and ice skating
summer gone, children in school
as they settle down from summer’s fun
swimmin’ holes and birds chirping
of laughter everywhere
too short the summer season
for those whose life stretches ahead
i’ll cherish every moment
of all my seasons past
as autumn’s exploding colors
hail the best time of the year

I can't wait for Thanksgiving, it's my favorite day of the year I think. I know the poem was about Autumn not Thanksgiving but your words, the photo and the background made me think of that. A beautiful scene you painted. Life has so much beauty in it and there is a little more added when someone can capture it in words. I so do love them, how they are used, strung together, words I mean.

Dee is awesome like cooling summer sun and painted lawns. I like this poem a lot.

Brilliant, A Norman Rochwell painting in words, the images, the rememberances of times that we experience and would experience of each new season and embracing this one. Beautiful. Blessings.

My dear Dee . . .
you've painted such a beautiful picture of autumn here, and a touching reflection of summer and winter. Your imagery is stellar; as is this poem. What sweet chew of nostalgia, a flashback to the peaceful days that my heart yearns so dearly for.
Best of luck in the contest, dear poet!
