Only once a year am I free
Amid masks and costumes
Do you know I walk here too
‘Trick or Treat’ young voices scream
Scream again for me before the nights out
Light the lanterns on your porch
It won’t keep me out
The goblins aren’t all in fairy tales
The moon hides behind the clouds
Now is my time to strike
Ring the bell and wait the answer
Bowl of candy in your arms
Not expecting any harm
You shouldn’t have been alone tonight
No one can hear your screams on Halloween
I’ll leave the light on when I leave
Let the next child who comes find you there
No one will notice the blood on me
Not tonight, not Halloween
The one night a year I am free
Author notes
I was going to go for a longer version, but I thought the mystery added to it, hopefully I'm right!

Not really scary but I think you achieved that sense of mystery you desired. I enjoyed reading this and don't really have any advice to offer this.
Good write. Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest!
