Dame Penelope

Dirt covered button nose
Age unknown
Memories of a lost childhood
Eclipsed in a dented shopping cart

Pictures shown with some fingerless gloves

Each stained with tears
Nightly visits at the bus station
Each filled with a shallow laughter
Love refracts from her swollen eyes
Oh those shoes self repaired
Pepople hide their true feelings behind smiles
Each feeling disgust

William, James and I miss you! It is
so good to see that you have posted
a poem. I can just see a sad and lonely
homeless lady and also feel for her
having to endure peoples looks. It
is so sad that people are so damn mean.
I freaking hate that others don't even
consider for a moment that these
people on the streets are human too!
Grrr, I could go on, but I don't need
to. You have said it here, if folks
have the eyes to see, and the hearts
to feel. Well done dear friend.
