Autumn

Soon I will sleep forever -
this skin will peel from weathering
bones.
These veins which once were
blue with life will forget the
bitter taste of oxygen.

All is lost

The air is cold, whispering death
through weakening trees, whose
leaves cling desperately through
the numbing breeze.

The bright array of colours
paint the path for lifes departure,
natures sodden victims will be my bed
this coming winter.

The stars burn with fires of
the worlds dreams and wishes but
each one will blink out,
as this world diminishes.

All is lost

Soon I will sleep forever but
I won't be dreaming...

Wow. . first off, this is simply amazing. Incredible and STRAIGHT from your heart. There's so much passion in it, and I can tell that you put yourself into the poem.

I love poems about dying seasons and the world changing. This was amazing. To creatures in the wild it must seem like the end of the world. And right now I'm cold enough to feel like one of them.

Fantastic poem. Its perfect in my mind. Thanks for sharing.

This is morbidly gorgeous! The imagery is perfectly vivid, and the metaphors incredibly help the dream-like quality to the words. The picture of this beautiful yet deathly scene is wonderfully haunting, especially in the last two lines.
