Can't Text Me Love

So much i want to say to you but distance keeps me at bay

The words i try to say to you are distorted through the phone
reaction and meaning lacking in simple words and electronic intonation
and words texted feel empty, though full of things we haven't voiced
no way to say the words left unspoken


I don't know what to say to make you smile
blinded by the distance
only the teasing sound of your laughter keeping me on track
so i try everything too keep you laughing
just so i can hear you smile
wishing you could see me smile back


Words fail me when i know a touch would be so much simpler
i can't describe a hug in words
or what it means to brush against your skin
subtle movements and reactions
indescribable
trying to find some words to convey my meaning
but failing miserably all the same
i can say only three words
though i know they are never enough
i love you
