as I am of the world and yet
without it.
I am a wanderer of mind,
an open girl who must forget
her remit.
I can be in love with someone,
or in love with love's idea.
I am young.
This coloured work before me here
merges like my urges as one.
He out there.
Can I trust him as my own ideal?
Trust him to share me with no-one?
I dream this in my perfection.
Author notes
I've included a vague reference to the Pre-Raphaelites in this poem. The most notable of them had a penchant for "sharing" their women - willingly or not.
The gal dreams of being unshared; that her ideal will regard her as unique. In times when some women not high born would sadly accept the group importance of often self-important men, as a means to "status" of some kind.
A forerunner of the "casting couch" if you like.

Some interesting ideas. I think a lot of people are in love with loves ideal thats what tends to make them disappointed in their relationships and end something thats pretty damn good just because its not as perfect as they dreamed. The idea of being 'shared' I suppose is still relevant these days but in a different way since so many women seem to be bothered about being tied down to one man and the amount of cheating on people seems to have gone up so much that its almost acceptable (something I personally think is an appalling attitude of sociey). THe poem itself here is well written in short but effective stanza's with some beautiful and challenging lines. Well done.

Good write for the prompt. That 3rd stanza is so true of young girls, and even some older ones, 'in love with love's idea'. Very insightful.
