We would be in such distress.
It seems the more we grab from life,
The more we make a mess.
I can remember days of long ago,
When a neighbor would come to call.
Now, family doesn't get together,
And you don't see your neighbor at all.
Now, we concentrate on things,
The more we have, the better.
Home phones are now mostly obsolete.
Did you ever hear of a letter?
Family time was most enjoyed.
How we used to play and fight.
When's the last time you saw your parents?
Where are your children tonight?
Family values have become extinct.
Morals left with them, you see.
It doesn't matter what my loved ones do.
As long as they don't bother me.
You can't yell at your child for drinking,
When you flaunt your bottle of beer.
If they mess up, or take their lives,
Would you even shed a tear?
We need to stop and think about
Things on which we rely.
How much do you think you'll take with you
When it comes your time to die?
Author notes
Just thinking.

wow, this is amazing and so true, old values just don't seem to exist anymore, material objects mean everything, love and friendship, to be discarded as and when it suits.

Well said
No good to keep blaming the kids of today, we were their parents what kind of role model were we as a society? Don't know who coined 'The me generation' but it surely fits what we have become.
