My Annabel Lee

She watches the sun
Collide with the sea
And sits up in her tower
In her kingdom by the sea
My Annabel Lee

She invites me to her castle
Says we can sip wine
And she’ll share her life
With me

Well, naturally, I couldn’t speak
She was breathtaking
Her skin was glowing so pale
And perfect
With hair shining copper
She looked at me with big, brown eyes
Like a child’s
But there were so many years within them

She smiled up at me,
Perfect, white, dazzling
And I could die from the beauty
Holding my hand in hers, she said,

Come live with me
In my kingdom by the sea
We could dance around fires
On the beach
And watch the stars
Shoot across the sky
We can be gods

But I couldn’t understand
Me?
I am just the human who breaks the hearts
Of the Heartless
I have no purpose
But to look upon her beauty
And weep
And write about the sound it makes
When my tears hit the floor

Then, my Annabel Lee looked at me
Intensely
And took my face in her tiny hand

Just look at me, she said
See who I am
See who I’ve become,
Without you
Look at me

And I saw her soul

I saw her life, her past
All of the hate, the pain
The sadness
O, and I cried
I cried for her
She wanted to die, for
She had been human
…Human!
Tired of the pain,
She turned into a god
And the Magick flowed within her
And it’s brother, Loneliness
Came to settle, too,
In her heart
Her angelic self was magnified
Men would look upon her
And they spake in tongues
But she sat at her tower
Unsatisfied.
A god
With a broken heart

Then she dropped her hand from my face

Do you see?
My pain is still here
Itching and scratching
Gnawing at my heart
It flows through my veins
Like broken glass
But you can make it stop
And I can make you a god
A god of Love
You will not break hearts
You will mend them
You will not be ruled
By your tears

I could not breathe, I was so happy

She filled me with her Magick and the Loneliness
And I transformed it
Into Love, our Love
And now we are in love
