♫ When you think of Rock ‘n’ Roll, ♫
♫ What do you imagine? ♫
♫ Elvis, Beatles, or the Ramones, ♫
♫ Or music with a lot of soul? ♫
♫ Alan Freed started it all, ♫
♫ To please the days teenagers. ♫
♫ He called the music Rock ‘n’ Roll, ♫
♫ That led to the guitar the “Les Paul.” ♫
♫ “Tutti Frutti,” was a favorite in ’55, ♫
♫ Followed by Elvis Presley. ♫
♫ People would dance and have a “bash.” ♫
♫ While doing the great “Hand Jive.” ♫
♫ The show “American Bandstand,” started, ♫
♫ Playing new “boss,” music. ♫
♫ Poodle skirts and leather jackets, ♫
♫ And hair that was weirdly parted. ♫
♫ On to the time of love and peace, ♫
♫ And also the British Invasion. ♫
♫ Mini skirts and colorful clothes, ♫
♫ Many soldiers in Vietnam deceased. ♫
♫ The milkman would come around, ♫
♫ And phones had spinning dials. ♫
♫ The music kept on playing, ♫
♫ It was a very entertaining sound. ♫
♫ The seventies was the Bee Gees, ♫
♫ With jumpsuits and platform shoes. ♫
♫ The 60’s left its mark, ♫
♫ Leaving a trail of peace. ♫
♫ “Far Out,” people would say, ♫
♫ When they thought something was cool. ♫
♫ Lava lamps were popular, ♫
♫ Left on throughout the day. ♫
Author notes
In skool we are working on Rock 'n' Roll. I made a poem about it and decided to put it on here.
