Guess it's the final curtain call.
You think my time is over.
You say I gave it my all.
Well I've got something to tell you,
and I'm being quite sincere
when I say this to you Death
well I'm kind of glad you're here.
I'm getting up there in age
and my bones they kind of creak.
I broke my hip and my arm
all in the space of one week.
My eyes are covered with film
and my lungs are sodden in phlegm,
and I think I just pissed my pants
lets just say... yep,once again.
Now I know to some it may seem
kind of strange I'm saying hello,
but to tell you the simple truth
I think I'm just ready to go.
My friends have all gone before
and my family forgets me dear,
so come on and lead the way
I'm dieing to get out of here.
Author notes
Prompt: write a letter to death
I wanted to let you all know, this is how I can see my one grandma approaching death, smiles. She was in the hospital a while back ,after having a heart attack and dieing on the operating table and generally scaring the crap out of us all, and when she was in recover..( which the doctors did not expect at all) she told us, " I had a bad gas attack, but it's all fixed up now.. can I go home?" Then she proceeded to tell the doctor jokes till he laughed so hard he could barely catch his breath.

I was thinking you were too young to feel this way by looking at your pic, but then I got to your notes and it all makes sense now. A bad gas attack...sounds like my grandpa. Congrats on the honorable mention. This was very well written.
