He Shines

Every day I look at him
His eyes shine beautiful and bright
When he smiles, the world stops
Behind his eyes, I see a light

He’s my best friend and confidant
My constant joy and stable rock
We share many memories
At times we forget the turning clock

A special love for him rests
In the deepest safety of my heart
An eternal candle burns
Our friendship could never part

As I am sent across the world
These last few days go too fast
I must cherish every minute
Hoping not to reach the last

His arms wrap around me
For an instant time stops
My only chance to take it in
Until that alarm goes off.

I am home on leave just this week. On Tuesday I leave for England for the Air Force. I will be stationed there for two years.

This poem, as sad as it is, shows just how much we all have to remember to cherish each and every moment we have with the one's we love and care about, because we don't know how long that will last. Beautiful.
