A Hushed Giggle~

I slowly walk among the ruins of this theatre
As I carry in my arms a chest with carvings so intricate,
It was as if only a God could have held the chisel…

Up on the stage I insert the heavy, rusted brass key and turn to the left
The thundering echoes of the tumblers soon follow as they shattered
The crystal silence of this cloudy night
And as if it itself was solely meant to be only a spotlight,
A single ray of light from the moon pierced through the clouds
And shone on the puppet that lay within
I gently placed my arms around her, lifting her out
Her auburn hair falls gently and sways in the breeze
While the gentle night air
Carries the scent of the jasmine petals from the surrounding flowers
That bloom among the cracks and under the rubble of mangled steel and concrete…

Her skin’s so smooth, so perfect under the heavenly moonlight
And her hazel eyes remain hidden under their velvet curtains
While a simple, deep purple dress,
Embroidered with gently curving blossoms threaded with a light blue,
Compliments her subtly curving wooden body
And as I attach the strings to her various articulations
I couldn’t help but wish she were alive so as to spend the night with me
Here upon this stage,
In this enigmatic garden,
As the nightly blooms elucidate the night.

I turn to close the chest.

A hushed giggle wafts along a starry breeze…
