Books say bipedalism exposes the weak underside;
every human standing in a swamp
contemplates this
Though hearts may not be worn
they lie within the chest
and twisted, knotted masses
are far from below a sturdy bridge
There are alligators in these hills
hiding in the gleaming blades of emerald,
and if the hills should speak or dance,
it is not praiseworthy nor magic
Uncertainty is the mesh of sewage and rotting reeds,
as the alligators stomp the lands flat,
and their innermost possession hiding,
they come to fill what is lacking
with what is obviously known
