The Flight to Zurich: The Prologue

When the clime of winter has come to pass,
and the warmth of summer is coming fast,
certain people take it upon themselves to vacation,
to achieve what they believe will be rest and relaxation.
Though many in America will remain within the borders,
others such as myself seek lands ruled by different orders.
We will traverse the thousands of miles by plane,
for a ship would take weeks and we may go insane.
There were many aboard this long tedious flight.
There was a proffessor who sat to my right,
a soldier enlisted who sat to my left,
and an embezzler fleeing from charges of theft.
I came to know these three rather well,
for I believed that much of them I may someday desire to tell.

Author notes

For those familiar with the Canterbury Tales I hope you will notice some similarities. Not that its written in Olde English or anything but because it is kind of a modern interpretation I am doing for my English class. It is like the Tales because it consists of a prologue and then describes the characters introduced, but that's as far as it goes. I'm not going to write a story for each of them, at least I don't think I will.
