Mother

Mother taught me how to walk
Mother taught me how to care
Mother taught me how to talk
Father just wasn't there

It's hard to be a single parent
People judge, it's so transparent
Apparently not good enough
No time for make-up, looking rough
Time's were tough, you did some stuff
That you're not proud of
Took me places, showed me faces
Things that children shouldn't see
But you were always there for me
Experience that granted me wisdom
All those things, I know why you did them
And why you didn't, I don't blame you
I forgive you

Mother taught me how to walk
Mother taught me how to care
Mother taught me how to talk
Father just wasn't there

Father left when I was young
You would always hold your tongue
Times were bad, you kept me strong
It's you that taught me right from wrong
Gave me somewhere I belong
Along the way my view was tainted
By opinions other people painted
I never showed appreciation
For your love and dedication
So I dedicate this song to you
I don't blame you
I forgive you

Mother taught me how to walk
Mother taught me how to care
Mother taught me how to talk
Father just wasn't there

Time for me to be the teacher
I know you do not need a preacher
But I'll be there as a shoulder
For you to cry on, be your boulder
Someone who you can rely on
Someone you can depend on
As a Son and as a Friend
I'll be there to the very end
I promise this I won't remiss
Or miss the fact that you were honest
I don't blame you
I forgive you
Mother I love you
Mother I miss you

Mother taught me how to walk
Mother taught me how to care
Mother taught me how to talk
Father just was not there
Which does not matter
Mother gave me love to spare

Be critical, I want to revise this.

  • excellent work!!

I enjoyed this very much. It was so sweet. I grew up in a single parent home myself so I can relate. My mom is my rock, and my best friend. I cherish every moment I get to spend with her. It really makes you appreciate family. I'm sure your mom is so proud of you. She has a wonderful son.
