Little Red

Once upon a time so near,
There walked a woman who was ever so dear,
She glided with care around the corners of night,
With a cap of red hair and ice in her sight,
The wolves followed her with glistening eyes,
To them she was the ultimate prize.

Walking the street with her legs bare,
She shivered and shakes with her basket of wares,
Tempting the men to sample and taste,
Asking to buy her with all due haste!
They begged and they wept without a treat,
For to get her for the night would surely be a feat.

“Red!” Called the madam, “Come to me Dear,
The Grand Madam is sick and in great fear!”
Red was given a new thing to take,
Told to hurry and not make any mistake,
“Follow the path through the alley with care,
Don’t talk to strangers, not even for spares.”

Red promised and nodded, keeping her word,
Taking the path through the alley, finding it most absurd,
The wolf heard about the task set out for dear Red,
And met in the path, hoping to lead her to the dead.
“Hello Red,” Said the wolf with an amusing air,
“How does your walk through the alley fair?”

Wanting to rant at all the hard work,
She even admitted her problems to the jerk,
“This alley is going to take me forever and a year!
If only there was a quicker way that was near.”
She huffed and she pouted with a deep set sigh,
Not knowing the wolf was beginning to get a reply.

“My dear little Red, There is such a path!
Just follow the road and you’ll be there in time for a bath.”
He worked his magic with the upmost in smooth,
Letting her contemplate his words with a smile to soothe,
He knew he had her when she nodded and approved,
And gave her word that she would go through.

While she walked with a happy smile,
The wolf ran ahead with a plan most vile,
The Grand Madam’s house he did approach,
And let himself in like a lowly cock roach
Stuffing the old woman in a closet with a shout
He hid under the covers in her clothes like a lout.

Upon her house did Red come,
Opening the door to her Grand Madam most Seldom,
“Hello Red, a wonderful visit you bring,
What have you brought me, show me the things.”
Red approached with a great deal of ease,
Wondering how the woman faired with her disease.

As she approached she noticed with a fright,
That the Grand Madam was just not right;
Her eyes and her ears were a sight to be seen,
With hairy hands and feet that never should have been,
With a curious wonder that filled her eyes
She asked the questions that could lead to her demise.

“Why Grand! What big ears you have,” She wondered,
“All the better to see you with,” He answered.
“And what big ears you have,” She murmured,
“All the better to hear you with,” He blubbered.
“And what big teeth you have!” She shivered,
“All-The-Better-To-Eat-You-With!” He delivered.

With a gasp and a shake he leapt from the bed,
To take and kill that poor little red,
But in who should come up but a man,
He had heard it all even the plan,
Hefting his axe with all great stress,
He chopped the wolf without any duress.

Red and the Grand Madam were saved in a flash,
And to repay him, Little Red gave her flesh,
For the moral of the story is true and wise,
If you talk to strangers you might meet your demise,
The end is near, the plot is done,
With the story over, it’s no more fun!
