Adrenaline kicks in bringin

Adrenaline kicks in bringing on an eerie calm
a focus so intense everything else fades away
seconds pass by and chances grow slim
life fading before my eyes and all i can do is pray,

Realization flows from desperate cries and faces
only one thing has a chance to prevail
those with training to make the difference
always trying without a thought that they might fail,

Do you know these nameless heroes
people are saved everyday but some are lost
firefighters, policemen, lifeguards, doctors
countless others that pay an emotional cost,

For every life taken these men and women suffer
cause no matter how they may pretend
they recognize how precious and fragile life is
and that many will meet their end,

Though many will die countless others will survive
these heroes know that they can make a difference
with this knowledge they continue to thrive
to rebel against those who do nothing they are the resistance.
