There She Was

There she was
In the midst of my dream
Standing right in front of me
Binding me to the spot I stood
It was her
My mother.

There she was
So clear and near
Her hair blonde
And cascading down her back
I couldn't catch my breath.

There she was
Holding me tight
Just like when I was little
Telling me she loved me
And didn't want to leave
But that she had to.

There she was
Her voice ringing through my ears
Comforting me
Looking me in the eyes
Smiling brightly.

Here I am
Wishing it was real
To see her again
To hear her
Just to have her here
But in the end
It was just a dream.
