Gather 'round children, let me tell you a tale
A rather tall tale about how the beaver got his tail.
For a long, long time ago when the dinosaurs walked the earth
To a handsome rat named Benny, his mother did give birth.
Benny was an average rat with lots of other rat friends
They would laugh, play, attend school and do what each intends.
But one day Benny found himself in a bit of trouble
He had wandered in the Burning Woods and lost amongst the rubble.
Days and days past as Benny tried to find his way
He tried hard to think back and figure out where he went astray.
What Benny didn't know was he was in for a big surprise
For walking into those Burning Woods had structured his demise.
Everyone has heard the story about the giant asteroid
But the tellers of the story left out an actual factoid.
For the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaur race was rather full scale
And it fell down from the sky right on Benny's tail!
How that rat survived at all no one is really sure
But his tail came out rather flat, and that I can ensure.
As Benny finally came around to face his group of peers
They noticed something strange, and it certainly was not his ears.
For Benny's tail now was flat, and they were almost non-believers
About this new and interesting species we have dubbed the beavers!

This was really fun to write. I enjoy writing stuff for children.
