Ice over wood and swathed in mist
Where faeries die and Medusa's hissed
Where trees are dead but passion thrives
And love's heart beats in hidden lives
By the broken branch a promise whispered
Melts the frost where he has kissed her
Quiet, darling, moonlight rains
In this place where you forget your pains
Like butterflies in bitter air
Shall take to sky, and leave you there
Lingering touches, horizon burns
Run before you're forced to learn
The fate of midnight forest dreams
Beneath the heat of daybreak's gleams
Silk-spun plans at dark will die
Touched by the gaze of fire's eye
Kisses all will fall to dust
Once the songs of forest nights are hushed.
Author notes
So, my sister and I were helping a friend get the mood of her next story, and we were just throwing out random words and phrases and I decided, because I loved the atmosphere, that I was going to string them together into a poem to help set the mood in a more artistic way.
