my sister's ultimate fudge
mum's marshmallow hot chocolate
who cares if I get a pudge
chocolate wheaten biscuits
chocolate chip cookies in milk
chocolate eclairs with cream
sliding in your mouth like silk
chocolate chocolate ice-cream
chocolate iced-covered cake too
anything that's chocolate
the darker. the better, will do!!!
flakes, almond joys and crunchies
choc-covered hokey pokey ice-cream
these are my favs, the ultimate, I lust
the mere memory of one, and I SCREAM!!!
The only words I can say
the only way to show my love
Dutch: Ik hou van chocolade
French: J'adore le chocolat
German: Ich liebe Schokolade
Italian: Mi piace il cioccolato
Norwegian: Jeg elsker sjokolade
Romanian: Îmi place ciocolata
Spanish: Me encantan los chocolates
Swedish: Jag älskar choklad
when we were gifted chocolate
it came directly from God above!!!

The Story of Chocolate By Pandora
Once upon a time there was a Prince who fell in love with a beautiful Princess who lived in a far off land. He loved her almost as much as he loved chocolate and that was saying something. The Prince felt it was time to woe her but he would have to ride through the Forbidden Forest, the Forest of Persecution and the Forest of Pure Torture. Of course, the Prince was young, in love and would do anything to get his Princess because she was not only beautiful, and blonde but very buxom too so he got on his big black stallion, Tonto, and started his journey. His first trial was the Forbidden Forest. He rode a little way in and could not believe what he saw. Petra's sister's special fudge packaged and hanging from the trees, just in arms reach. Tonto pulled a package down, chewed the fudge up and nodded with satisfaction. All the Prince had to do was help himself to all he desired but forfeit seeing his Princess. He remembered those beautiful eyes, clenched his fist and shed tears of pain as he rode on, head down. As the Prince left the Forbidden Forest he knew he would never forget that beautiful place and vowed one day to come back and perhaps build a castle so he and his friends could party hardy. The Prince rode on a little further till he came to the Forest of Persecution. Upon entering, the Prince fell to his knees and breathed rich hot chocolate. He walked to the middle of the forest and he saw a sight beyond imagination. A river of steaming hot chocolate with every color marshmellows floating in it. Soft and fluffy, angel food, melting into the chocolate river, the smell was glorious and the Prince felt like he was going to faint. Was this heaven? Tonto trotted over to the river for a gulp of chocolate and gave the Prince a big toothy grin with bits of marshmellow stuck between his teeth. The Prince took out his hankerchief, put it over his nose, and after Tonto had finished drinking a lot of hot chocolate and eating heaps of marshmellows, they toddled off out of the forest, tears running down the Prince's face, nose running, while picturing his Princess and kissing her soft ruby lips. He was also thinking about another castle in the Forest of Persecution for boys nights out, perhaps he would add a drop or two of liquor to the hot chocolate. The Prince felt a little better and extremely clever at his wonderful ideas. No sooner had they left the Forest of Persecution, woe and behold, there was the last and most tempting of all, the Forest of Pure Torture. The Prince felt like he had been through all the torture he could endure but would persevere. His Princess was more beautiful than Venus herself, also she had that great rack. (Good looking girls aren't easy to come by in Once Upon A Time stories, guys are a dime a dozen.) Anyway, he goes into the Forest of Pure Torture and there before him is a girl even more beautiful than his Princess. Skin like milk, long dark hair with rich brown eyes. He slowly dismounts from Tonto and approaches her. She smiles and his heart misses several beats. I am Princess Sjokolade and my name means chocolate for that is what I am, she says. I am Prince Anniken of Favor and Grace for this is the meaning of my name, he says. He had known Pure Torture, now he was in Pure Heaven, she took him to her castle, which was made of chocolate and all that good stuff, he met her Dad and Mum, the King and Queen, who were really cool and the Prince soon discovered this Princess was made of chocolate when he finally got to kiss her and no one could go out of the forests during the day otherwise they'd melt. He thought about that and made sure to follow anyone who forgot so no chocolate would go to waste!!! The King gave his new son-in-law a castle in each forest and access to the human servants so the Prince could get his friends to come over and have a boys slumber party??? The Prince's other Princess, Aurora, well she had a spell put on her and went into a coma until a Prince Charming came and gave her the first kiss. On Valentine's Day, he and Princess Sjokolade send them a year's supply of chocolate and they are all living happily ever after!

I think I have the cookbook in the picture.
My favorite lines are "chocolate chocolate ice-cream
chocolate iced-covered cake too", as I agree completely!
The tale in the AN is also very entertaining. Best of luck in the contest!

I enjoyed your poem very much (almost as much as I enjoy CHOCOLATE!!!)
Seriously, you have written a wonderful ode to chocolate. I will have to return to read "The Story of Chocolate"...I'm running out of comment time!
BEST OF LUCK in this contest!

It's all good, the words of one of our dearly departed poets. I'm sure he was referring to chocolate, too

You make all sound so yummy, no matter what form.
And your author note story is delightfully amusing, by the way
Good luck in the contest
Dee

You said two magic words in your poem: "Flakes and Crunchies". Oh how I LOVE them but they aren't easy to find in my parts but when I do I grab them up!
Nicely done and good luck in the voting.

I haven't put on all weight I have lost have I?
Well, like all things, chocolate is fine in moderation
And I love chocolate! But I really don't need it
You took the prompt and ran with it! Great job!
Best of luck in this contest!

Ah Petra !
Your poem and words I much admire
your verses fill me with desire.
I'd love to try your sister's fudge -
till all were gone, I'd never budge.
I'd love to try your Mum's hot choc -
I'm sure t'would drive me round the block
but most of all I'd love to sip
the taste of chocolate from your lip.
With all the languages you use
it's difficult to pick and choose
but one that best describes the sweetie
is the Maori name: Tiakerete
In Maori there is no word for
the English meaning of 'adore'
the nearest is atoratia
and this applies to you, my dear.
I love your poem and the foreign equivalents you use for "I adore chocolate"
which, now we have met each other face-to-face, we find is one of many things we share in common.
Applause and thanks for entering. Good luck in the voting.
Aroha nui, awhia e kihia xxx...ooo... Hugh (R.)

Ah, the darker the better,
those chocolate dreams,
and filled with passion
in any language!!
Great piece!!

It's funny how when dark chocolate is mentioned it always sounds a bit more - well - sinful for want of a better word. I mean milk chocolate - milk is good for us right? anything dark has an almost forbidden sound to it, so the darker and richer the chocolate the more sinful when eating it. It's only 6am here now but you had me drooling and not a piece of chocolate in the house..
