Bygone Liaisons {Villanelle}

I long to lay with you in the bed of yesterday,
Between your sheets of ravenous depravity,
Before Death became enchanted whisking you away.

When I tied strings to my heart in a puppet play,
A lascivious woman seeking a heady warrior,
I long to lay with you in the bed of yesterday.

A compulsive ache that always lead me astray,
An endeavor, which never needed an incantation,
Before Death became enchanted whisking you away.

Fluttering candles enhanced our shadow play,
A sweet indulgence of relentless debauchery,
I long to lay with you in the bed of yesterday.

Prurience so deep even now it leaves me in disarray,
Your scent, a laced aphrodisiac of the Gods,
Before Death became enchanted whisking you away.

When the full moon lines the sky with silver and gray,
I hunger for the kiss of your unbridled intensity,
I long to lay with you in the bed of yesterday,
Before Death became enchanted whisking you away.
