Don’t let the wrapping fool you , the present is inside

You really don’t know me. There are
times when I don’t really know either.
So let us be both surprised.

I am not painting sunsets or catching
bright bass dancing on a silver stream.
I do find fireflies behind delicate ears
as I wrap moonlight around a heart
kiss each beat it pulses along a wrist.

Told me, I spoke to parts of you
parts so quiet no heart had heard them.
I felt the darkness flutter like a bed sheet
breathing upon us, secrets blossoming
from seeds we never knew were planted.
There is a magic in awakening a shared garden.

Love doesn’t lie but it often makes us forget
how human we truly are. We carry shadows,
are often afraid the chill from the past
will nip the buds on flowers discovering the sun.

You really don’t know me and I don’t
think there is anything too terrible to find.
I know I would love it , if you are willing
to share the moment, if we could just take our time.

Gentle but penetrating write. This is worthy of something more than AP...

    Great write!

Part of being human is denial. I know one of the things next on my plate is to try to get published in a wider more recognized public forum. Thanks for the gentle push. They always help.
      Love,

There is something about most of your poetry that i can take and wrap myself around like a warm blanket. For some reason this comforted me.
Feeling alot of people don't know my heart and are judging me from the outside.
So this was such a beautiful reflection of you.
This was very warming to the heart.
    Your imagery was stunning!

    Love,

It took years, but I am no longer afraid to be vulnerable, available. We learn to hate judgments because we have come to believe they are all negative. Consequence for our actions had come to mean a negative and yet many actions create consequences quite beautiful. I have learned to listen for what people already hear.
      Love,

...Amazing how the heart unfolds in a moment deeply shared, and astounding how much there is that can never be seen on the surface of another human being without blossoming in unison from time to time . What a wilderness of beauty you pen, my friend...and I have to say this page is a stunning backdrop for this poem.

Beautiful quilling! I think wishes are like that when they scroll into view....

      Thank you

We are never what another has idealized, nor as bad as our anger describes sometimes. We should treat ourselves with compassion and share the gentleness and patience with the ones we love.
      Love,
      Tom B.

    my heart fluttered

or was that butterflies in my stomach, or catching a heartbeat out of sync...in any case, it took my breath away, the secrets lovers find within...your writing is the same way, so many treasures among your penned words. this is my favorite part:

Told me, I spoke to parts of you
parts so quiet no heart had heard them.
I felt the darkness flutter like a bed sheet
    breathing upon us, secrets blossoming
from seeds we never knew were planted.
There is a magic in awakening a shared garden.

best of luck in the contest!

This is all about beginnings and the things that help us to continue the path once we started. If we forget the wonder and joy, then we often stop walking. If we cannot find these things within ourselves and share them with the one we love, then we are either narcissistic and going from "falling-in-love" high to high or we allow ourselves to die until someone else does the dirty work of waking us up to being alive.
      Love,
      Tom B.

You have once agin picked up you quill and painted a picture of the beginning when lovers are learning, trusting and hoping they've got it right. I remember my beginnings so well; after reading this wonderful piece of art. ...."Oh how I blundered"....back in the day.......novy

    Magnificent !

Starting is maybe hard but keeping going is the hardest if we think things will always be as high as the start. When we start knowing it is an adventure with highs and lows and it is about finding the right human being, not the perfect person, we have a chance to make it about what we share and not about what is in it for me. In other words, we have a chance to experience love.
      Love,
      Tom B.

    Applause-applause-applause!
Now that was a fine example of writing strength and vulnerability.
    POWERFUL!

I've always loved flaws and the differences we share amongst each
other.....even the passionate and angry ones....that love to sculpt
    upon us....their burnt candles.

You wrote this very tenderly and with a touch of passion
and respect.....now that is a powerful ingredient in the mixtures
    of love and friendship!

We cover up our fear with pride and mock confidence. Perhaps we are better served to approach another with sense of humility and a love of discovery. When we are available to learn and willing to share in the joy of discovery, friendship blooms and we are washed with the heady gifts of love, compassion and kindness.
      Love,
      Tom B.

    This is gorgeous!
Such elegant words to cast a light on love in it's finest hour...

" am not painting sunsets or catching
bright bass dancing on a silver stream.
I do find fireflies behind delicate ears
as I wrap moonlight around a heart
as I kiss each beat it pulses along a wrist. "

SO delicate I just adore this

"Layers " demanded a response. I couldn't resist. There is so much fumbling that goes on in the beginning of a relationship. I wanted to speak to that and how love makes it worth the effort.
      Love,
      Tom B.

I like the flow, the feelings and the heart felt love that just pours from this. It is true, no one really knows us, not even ourselves, let if we allow another to join us, we find that love is a treasure worth anything else out there.

I hold as true that we see ourselves best in what is reflected back to us by those who are our friends and truly love us. Part of love is feeling safe to discover more about who we are and what is possible with another that wouldn't be possible without them. We grow and we change. It is for the best if we do it in good company.
      Love,
      Tom B.
