Mixed Baby Blues

You would think
that even in this nation
where discrimination is passed down
to each generation
you'd think they'd stop
with looks of disgust
holding back opinions
just waiting to combust
Why do we still have
each side putting the other to blame
and why still do we try
and strive to put each other to blame.
Growin up as a kid with a mixed race
i used to wish i could erase my face
i felt so out of place
was called cracker cuz i have i white mother
If it wasnt one thing it was another
smothered and suffocated by peope i hated
because they hated me.
Sometimes i felt like i had to choose sides
cuz i was striding along the line of
black and white.
And every time Black History month came around
i wanted to bury myself in the ground
See everyones was always sayin " Man you aint BLACK"
Yeah as a matter of fact i'm both
But now, all i long for is to evolve it
Cuz goin to the past aint gonna solve this
Still, history repeats even while
racism depleats
There's still a select few
who cant accept that times have changed
but its strange.
Blacks still blame "the man" keepin them down
and it seriously makes me frown
You're gettin in each other's ways
cuz at the end of the day
what can you really say?
This is just to get stuff off my chest
because it seems like the rivalry wont rest
these are just a mixed baby's blues
