Village 1.

The fields sprawl
breathe mist to show mornings start rose gold in autumn here
thinking paint pallettes at dawn-
is silver grey or white?
in the church tattered banners hold
together heavy air and time
herald still
betombed feudal lords
bright arms faded painfully
they called it all Argent then
of course they could not make silver and gold
tints to shine thus as the sun
frills the edges of clouds
it was all yellow and white Argent and Or
and probably a lot more shades
of grey
than you could shake a brush at.

if you want to paint silver use complementarities
argent once silver turned into dull "money"
though a silver cup might not get you sick
try drinking from a paper or plastic made one...

    slowly assets replaced feud
    and land became barter
and there are no faces on coins anymore
    only numbers

grey holds a bit of majesty though, no?
    least I think so..
    black without the despair

yes yes! grey is silver in the wrong light- you want to paint silver, you have to paint grey and use imagination

This is good - an examination of form and colour that leads to a looking-back over the shoulder to time passing over a particular place in the world. A rising sun is a symbol of new life, so welcome back!

all the colours of autumn and then the shades of greying stones and heavy air.. i do so love the distinctive shades in this piece and how it speaks of Yorkshire and beyond.. even as far as the Pennines lad..
shake a brush tail at it and let it ride..

Your author notes echo my thoughts, was wondering where and how you had been? Again you bring places and sights and smells to life with your pen, I find that refreshing
