in the corner of the room
with my eyes locked on the ceiling,
watching the downy clouds.
As they roll past unaware
of my purple walrus eyes
they, while dancing in the sky,
shred their fabric patterned shrouds.
While I’m sitting in gardens
where the sun will never come,
like sweet Lucy in the sky
they, while dancing in a row
remove constricting clothing
to release their colors true,
and send them though the silent breeze
to flicker and to flow.
While awaiting for exhaust
in purple to take me home,
sprouting from the coming van
then mingling with the scene,
pretty ginger penguin clouds
running naked hand in hand
with some Hare Krishna incense
colored fuchsia pink and green.
While tanning in the rhythmic rain
my lips are forced to smile
at the glow from the clouds
like a motley colored custard.
Swimming though glossy tears
set in colors like a peacock,
their long faces grow little,
painted in pearl and mustard.
While sipping my berry tea
in an ocean of corn flakes,
far from the city lights
all together they laugh and sing.
The animals of the sky
shine in their own true drippings;
what great wonders these walrus
eye kaleidoscopes can bring.
Author notes
Prompt: I am the Walrus by (non other then) The Beatles!! This song specifically is very important to me because it was when I was listening to it for the first time that I realised that The Beatles were always the best. I was a fan of them long before this song sunk into my life, but it was not until this song that I was captured by their magic.
This poem not only uses images from the song but it also illustrates what the song might look like if you watched it. I always see it as brightly colored clouds with fun shapes parading across the sky, shedding away their fluffy white clothes to reveal their true colored skins. As watching I of course sit within my little cornflake chair.
I hope you find my use of that line tasteful.

I'd love to turn you on. I was just thinking those words, not meaning that I wanted to turn you on, just simply the Beatles. I love them too. They were at their Zenith when they were all together. It's amazing how energy and music are synced and symbiotic in people. Great poem!

Very tasteful indeed! I could see the floating clouds undressing themselves and I really am impressed with your use of these words. Yes, the Beatles are indeed a magical group. I find myself singing their song lyrics in the middle of the night when I'm half asleep and can't control myself
! Great work and thanks for entering!
