Vision-juggler, sorceress
of the surreal, your imagery
compells reaction...
and deep admiration.
Fantasist and fabulist
of the female in her many
manifestations, your bizarre
and fertile imagination
soars free - no safety net
provided or needed.
Gabriella, you have donned
the cape of magic realism,
picked up the gauntlet
of Dali, and lifted your art
to unheard of heights.
Ignore the carping of critics
and the dismay of the ignorant -
your subtlety, wit and talent
will outlive your detractors
and will forever be a hymn
to human complexity.

This poem is inspired by the fantastic art of the painter Gabriella Garza Padilla. I have chosen no particular work of hers, but instead have tried to give a flavour of her work in general. Some of that work can be seen on the following site:

This is such a fabulous piece, Bill. I agree; her work is a continuation of that begun by Salvador Dali. My own favorite of Padilla's paintings shown on this link is "Las Raices". Her sense and imagination goes far beyond what most can even begin to see, let alone put upon a canvas. You have done an admirable job in paying homage to this very gifted artist. I have to admit, though...I was a bit surprised by your choice of art this time, but in a good way. (Since you'd chosen a classical romantic one before, in the previous contest, and a dancer in your previous entry on this one). That only demonstrates to me how worldly-wise you are, how wide your vision really is. One should not limit their influences or one limits their entire sphere of creativity.
