I am a word of skill
beneath the wisdom of water,
the tracks of the sun
on the dewed grass and heather;
I am the sting of salt air,
the moon in the morning,
the steam from the cow's breath
who bellows at dawn;
I am the blood of a hero,
the smell of a woman,
the cry of the seagull,
the wet clump of kelp
on the rocks near your home.
I am a word of skill,
the wonder of wonders,
the roar of the oceans,
the whispers of dreams.

This is a great, sophisticated, vivid poem. I wouldn't have minded losing to it. I think it captures Ireland's soul beautifully. Hope you're doing well, friend.

Wonderful poem. Thank you for entering the contest.

This is beautifully written, combining elements of mysticism, nature poetry and a flavour that is essentially wild and Celtic - it is like a siren call from my ancestral past. You are a true poet, my friend.
In admiration,

This is lovely, Mac. Truly inspired, and truly inscribed. I love this in particular:
'I am the blood of a hero,
the smell of a woman,
the cry of the seagull,
the wet clump of kelp
on the rocks near your home'
Best of luck in the contest.
