Colourless eyes.

In the soft folds of sleep I stir,
discontent. You stand
before me and I can see every
laughter drawn on you,
and the dimple in your cheeks
as you warm me, from
toe to tip, with a bright smile

and closed eyes. They
blink open for a second; black
pupil and grey ringing
each eye. Heart ache even in
dream for a longing to
remember, see the colour of
your happiness again.

I cry on your shoulder in the
morning; you laugh. I
turn my head into you; don't
want to see the green,
gold, blue of those eyes. Palm
on my face turns it up:

I laugh to see the love in your eyes, and the grey rings around them.

Author notes

prompt;
i looked at you and realized even when they were in plain sight, i didn't know the colour of your eyes. i just knew i was in love with it.
