Aren't You My Hero?

Standing in the dark
Alone
And weeping.
Where are you?
Why didn't you come?

You were supposed to be here,
But they were here instead.
They laughed at the dress I wore
Just for you,
They mussed my hair,
Bruised my skin
And mocked my silent tears.
I kept hoping,
Hoping you'd show
As they tore my innocence
Like my dress,
As they injured my trust
In people.

And when I wept,
Curled into a ball
Of misery and pain;
They gave me one last kick
And left me there.

Still I hoped for you
As my tears dried in salt-crusts
And the pain died
To merely unbearable.
I hoped you'd come
And wipe away my misery.
Where are you?
Why didn't you come?

Author notes

for the benefit of my family and friends that read this page, let me say this is NOT a personal experience piece. Actually, I found it in my drawer at work the other day. It's my writing, I know that, but I don't actually remember writing it. I must have been having a VERY bad day, though.

Please tell me what you think

Sounds like the horror flick 'Carrie' .... don't want to go there!

    Glad it isn't personal .... :-)

No kidding, a bad day! I'm just glad it's not a directly personal experience piece. It's still pretty good, though, for all the darkness.
