Children Paint the Sky Pink

Children paint the sky pink, or so it would seem
Lol
They make flowers as big as trees, butterflies a radiant azure
Hehe…
And people bigger than the houses they inhabit,
Are you sure?

The sun is now an exploding green, not mellow yellow
What a sight that would be…
And the grass inflamed by vibrant reds, oranges, and yes: pink
(again?)
Oh what a day! For that pint sized bumble bee
For today the world is what is seems

But what’s this? Oh no… here comes the pre-school teacher
NO! Ashley, NO! Brain, NO! Pedro
Haha… trees are green not blue, and butterflies aren’t that big
“Kids” thinks the “educated” teacher
Houses don’t have so many windows, And you’re not that tall, honey
She “gracefully bestows”

And, Oh my! Shudders the kid, what have I done? She thinks
As a solemn tear strolls down her face
All I wanted was to please Miss Leecher, she begins to sob and teeter
“Serves her right” snobs back the teacher
“But honey don’t cry!” Are her automatic hollow words
As she destroys the infants’ hallow world

“But it felt so right” thinks the kid, each grass blade IS different
Self-doubt emerges
And the sky does glow over me, and I thought…no could it be?
And rationale grins
I thought one day I COULD BE as big as that tree
Courage fights back

And that flower DOES shine bright as it plays in the sun and the wind
And so I thought it big
And the birds, …and the bees, …and that lady bug all seemed just as important
As me
And so I drew them as big, and I thought I was just as important as mother
So I drew me just as big as her

No, no, no….touts the academic infantry: intelligence, common sense, and lately
Curiosity
Everyone “knows” the sun does NOT go around the earth
They maliciously smile
And everyone “knows” we were all monkeys at one point
Aha! They mocker in triumph

“BUT” says the kid….no no no! Shout the educated forces
You, they poke
Have no say in this, science (and she proudly clears her throat)
Science is infallible!
No, no, no….sobs the kid, it can’t be right, it just can’t
As her world comes crashing down

And so the dream ended, and I came back to my senses
And, Oh my! I gasped
Scared fatigued and shaken, that was a close one, I breathed
But could it be? I asked
Could it just be, that the world, my life, my existence might just be…
As it once seemed?
