Ten things I 'd Tell My Daughter About John Anthony Rizzotto

John Anthony Rizzotto is intense.
John Anthony knows no limits.
John is passionate
and confuses that
with being compassionate.
At times he can seem selfish
but will claim
thats his way of being selfless.
He could be called obsessive
he would say determined
is a better word.
John is a quick study.
The man's intuitive
is what I'm tryin' to say.
Charming
and majorly conflicted
about womem

we try to protect our children from hurt - in the end all we have is love and honesty, and sometimes murderous intent towards their dangerous and uncaring lovers.  love the last three lines, implies there are other bodies buried there....

the AP note is pretty funny, if ominous

(boring bit: 5th last line typo womem = women)

    witty

I like your sarcastic attitude here; your poem made me smile. I'm sorry you had to go through a stupid relationship, but at least a great poem came out of it!!

    great!

i love the way that the poem is set up... Its close to my favorite style of poetry, but close enough. Love how you make it flow, too. keep up the good work!

Not bad - unsaid things are most important

I can't figure out if John is the father or if John is someone who is attracked to the daughter. Is the grave dug by John or the father? Is the admonition to 'stay away from him' coming from the father to the daughter or from the author (about himself) to everyone else? Its ambiguous - I like it either way.

Father to daughter, for sure...grave dug by father....In the words of Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.."I''l dig the hole...it wont be the first hole I've dug" Thanks for the interest.

lol...so many people confuse obsession and determination. A very well written poem.

That ending made me laugh so hard, because it reminded me so much of my own dad
A wonderful piece of parental poetry you've penned! =]
