Man Made Boxes

if I could wage war against the ages
I would carve every ounce of flesh
and claim my bones for wearing
forgiveness is elusive
for self is weaker than God
freedom lies within reach
of complete sentences
and requests of belief

my God will not fit
in your man made boxes
you may place your judgments
but he died even for me

he paints my sunrise
with indigo blues
and despite self-disgust
his love grows in full blooms

bones brittle with cold
dreams disappear like sand
mistakes carried my years away
in boxes packed with unwanted ads

some learn the hard way
what God knows the best
Screaming for your truths
in a world overgrown with weeds

forfeit my right to relief
to simply forgive myself
and rest weary shoulders
on sheets made of burlap
for eyes strong enough to see

His love is greater
than this worlds shelter
His strength carries
existence like Atlas

so I'll keep praying
and take one step at a time
God help me stand tall
God help me shine

    Absolutely Amazingly Awesome!

You have an astounding wisdom. I read your poetry and I know that God would be pleased enough with your mere wisdom.

Some of us are forty, fifty and more before we learn such depth and still continue to pack boxes of mistakes with unwanted ads!

Bless you forever and always - not that you really need it, you are truly blessed, but I have learned that the greatest gift we can receive is the gift of prayer.

P.S. Personally, even though I still pack boxes of mistakes, I've learned to lighten up on the self-disgust, for God created us in his image, and I wouldn't be disgusted with Him ;-)

    Crystal,

I love this, I love how you show that God has room for all of us and nobody can really define God for us, it is up to us to see him for what he is, it is up to us to call unto God when we have finally learnt to let go and no man made box could ever confine the heart that grows stronger once God is within.

You have penned some serious emotions here, I can sense that there is much pain through personal growth and life experiences in this write.

I wish you only the best young lady, you are awesome and esteemed by your God and all those around you.

    your Poppet ...
