Science and Satan(clarification)

After a few well deserved slaps to the brain, I must retract my statement that 'science has a political agenda'.  The truth is that politics has a scientific agenda. It takes very little reseacrch to understand that countries and nations abuse scientific discoveries and innovations by turning many of them into threat mechanisms as tools for potential warfare. This bullying technique goes far beyond the need for self-protection by trying to validate the need for military superiority. Now, the United States might have the largest and most powerful stock pile of these Oppenheimer like toys but any country, by hook or crook, that has the financial resources can and has developed their own nuclear defense weapons. In some respects this could be a good thing however it actually promotes hostility and violence instead of a united front for the betterment of society as a whole. It is with this thought in mind I stated that "without secular management, science could prevail where Satan has failed". For those in need of a refresher course, here is my reasoning;

Satan was the highest of all the angels. As God's favorite(at the time), he shared all the same knowledge buy not the reasoning to apply that knowledge in a positive manner. Satan's jealousy flaw got him cast out of Heaven to the earth as a result of a foiled hostile take over attempt. Out of spite and revenge, he seduced Eve who seduced Adam into eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge but convincing Eve that God would be pleased if the two humans shared the same knowledge that God allowed only for Himself.  The immediate ramification got them thrown out of the The Garden of Eden forcing them to have to learn how to provide for themselves everything God had willingly supplied. From that day forward man's "need to know" and inherant jealously has evolved into today's governmental drive for world domination through intimidation.

    I read this and i was happy i was able to follow, I am not a good enough writer, to lend critiqe, all i know its better than I can do, I just wanted to let you know I hear where your going with it, and I liked it,and my comment i will put in a nut shell, science Is Satan, but this open up something bigger, but lets talk about adam and eve a sec. how was she created out of a mans rib................strange stuff, as far as stories from the bible. as far as I am concerned, there are so many holes concerning this subject. but I loved your writing about it, the way you did, a refreshing approach, but our planet is in a mess..........I wonder why......

      laura, while I don't agree that Satan 'is' science, man's need to know is also an inherited trait. It's what we do with what we know that makes a differance. I understand your skepticism about Biblical fact, but there really are no holes in the concept. Where science fails, God prevails. It's all matter of faith and the strenghth of your beliefs

    Interesting poem to chew upon...
    I was concerned for our scientists as politicians were silencing them...
    as to our greenhouse climate and dangers.
    and they seemed to be deemed and paid more valuable as pharmacists of profit then
    the true patriots of science and exploration. That is sad!

    In your Satan expose you give a historical reference to a mighty war
    that occured in heaven;
    and your last line;
    From that day forward man's "need to know" and inherant jealously has evolved into today's governmental drive for world domination through intimidation.

    well ..there sure has been plenty of examples of that in the news lately...
    I don't know something is etching at me with that last statement...
    perhaps it is that one breath of life...a trace of dna.....
    that placed within us a creators inquisitive and creative nature
    or perhaps we're still uncovering the lost history of our race
    that was never written down....

    interesting poem you wrote to chew upon!
    well done!

      Ears, I'm curious to hear yourcollective views regarding science, politics and, if you wish, Christianity. As I need to do, your reading about the Intellectual Design Theory might open some new avenues

    Nice pairing

    You are correct! Now we have all this other countries ready to come and blow us (USA) away. The last line sums it up. From that day forward man's "need to know" and inherant jealously has evolved into today's governmental drive for world domination through intimidation. Thanks for the read.

      Jackle, there are many paths to reach the same goal and this is just one of my many. Now that most countries as well as nations have the power to destroy one another maybe they will work towards a better world peace. More wars have been fought over religious conflicts than another reasoning. By putting Christianity back our schools and government, the example set by the U.S. might become the role model it tries in vain to portray

      Aires, to a ram from a scorpion , your thoughts an input is desired and welcome. Curiosity only killed one of the nine lives.

      Bear in mind
      each of the nine
      had nine of their own

      breanna, well DUH!! But then I guess you're unaware this site is about all forms of creative writing. Sure I could classify this other than a poem, but then those such as yourself would not have bothered reading or clicking (perhaps?) just for the points. (You did read it??)

      With that said, if you have insights or plausible opinion on the subject, please feel free to post them. In my ecclectic way this is an open forum open to philosophical thought, science fiction and fact, Christianity or non-believer.

      in other words ride the roller coaster or get out of the line

    I find an interesting corollary to your point that politics has a scientific agenda when we look at Carl Sagan's Cosmos. The entire production was designed because so much of our scientific ability was swallowed up by the greedy desires of the Cold War, and having an opportunity to show us how small and insignificant we truly are helped to turn our focus away from science for war and back towards science for understanding. Carl Sagan also says that mankind is the Cosmos awakening so that it might understand itself.

    You have interesting thoughts. I can't say I agree with them, as I am an ex-Christian and have walked away from that path many years ago, but I nonetheless applaud your effort to understand.

    Cheers.

      trekkor, speaking of Sagan, you might get a smile of assurance. You don't have to be a Christian to accept scientific fact--- http://allpoetry.com/poem/5720441.

      Actually I'm glad you disagree with me but do tell me why. The fact that I embrace Christiianity is not the point(yet). There is a lot to be said for various philosophies and the reasons for for following them. How about expressing your point of view in a link related observation of your own?? Afterall, Spinoza, Zen and, the book of Hebrews share a common denomnator

    we can see that human nature has both good and bad woven together
    it seems every moment is a choice before us, we can gravitate towards God or away from God as we choose.
    we can see the effects of our choices in our life's and in the world,
    we should always put us and we, because we do own our decisions,
    I believe it may be more than providing for ourselves, I believe it may have to do with walking away from God.
    We were given all we were needed as we walked with Divine, the world leaders are an extention of all of us, and we are not in the spot light but we do, at least most choose our nature rather than God
    evil obviously is alive and well in the world Joe
    Can we change others, we can yell we can scream and we can point but we can not change others.
    we can change ourselves
    by first becoming aware as you have, and then gravitating towards God also as you have, and faith to stand firm and put your trust completely in the hands of God
    everything starts with one
    very interesting write Joe
    Well done
    God bless you my friend...

      Pisces, as you know, we can only inspire others to change by the examples we set and the changes we make in our own lives. While I doubt that science and Christianity will ever totally unite, with a little support from others here posting some insight, maybe we can get the two to at least hold hands

    I'm not Christian myself, as you know, but Christianity that keeps its hands to itself is something I'll never argue with. I had not known the exact story of Satan and how he got pitched out, and I've also never heard that story parlayed into something so relatable with a message for the present day. There's even a valuable secular message here. Got me thinking. Well writ, my friend.
