As night falls I can feel the shadows start to move across my moonlit room
I dress for for my night job as a nurse at the local institution
I can hear the voices rise up as I head out the door
The insanity growing in me with every step
As I approach the entrance of the institution I can see
they are bringing in a new patient on a gurney
she is alabaster white, I can see the stains of blood soaking the gauze around her wrists
Her face distorted in beautiful anguish, Little does she know the torture awaiting her
I hurry past to set my things away in my locker and prepare for my night ahead
I enter the young woman's room immediately going to work She watches with confusion
as I fill a syringe with pain medicine, I can see it start to take its effect immediately
She begins to drift in and out of consciousness
With malevolent intent I close her room door, slip my rubber gloves on
and remove the scalpel from within the pocket of my uniform
The voices in my brain scream with malign intent
I place the scalpel in her hand and use my hand to guide it
I slit her throat in just the right spots, Smiling as her rust colored blood flows quickly from her gapping wound
I release her hand and watch as the blood stained scalpel falls to the floor with a clang
I leave the room just as quietly as I entered slipping out just in time to see a new patient arrive
