Love the Insane

your enemy’s afraid of something, probably you
he fears and trembles at what you may do
he believes himself, he must protect and defend
perceiving you’re the enemy, not his friend

an angry response will only fuel the burning fire
of revengeful, reactive, persistent ego desire;
crazy notions, embedded deep inside his head
restrain the insane by means of love instead

we all fear our little ego could be crushed
insanely, we defend it till our very death
unless we find a sense of reason, some sanity
we will never be able to save our humanity

hate is not the way to handle the insane
hate prolongs the silly fighting game
love your enemy; it’s often been said
for without love, well, peace is dead

Author notes

Look at it this way. If you encounter a crazy man who is running at you with a knife, what do you do? First, you try to just stay out of his way. Second, if he is coming directly at you, you try to block him without hurting him. As a last resort, perhaps, you kill him in self defense.

Regardless of what you do, you do it without anger and hate. You do it with love. Anger and hate create an energy field that has to yet be resolved.

It makes no sense to hate a crazy man.

This applies to nation to nation relationships, as well as individual.

If one hates only more hate will come, if one loves more love will come back. Which would we want to have come our way! 's

It's a very profound notion you have here. Is it possible that anger and hate are just bouts of temporary insanity, which would fall away under the cool light of reason?

powerful write and I love the last stanza. So often I have wondered how it is possible for people to love others who are insane, but after coming across a few insane people myself, I have come to realize that there are some people who honestly just don't know that they are acting a certain way or why it is that they act a certain way. I have even encountered narcissists in my life and as much as they may hurt me, I can't find it within me to hate them in any way. It makes no sense to hate someone who doesn't understand why they act the way they do. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

Thanks for reading and commenting. If you look at everybody as slightly insane, then it's easer to love them. We can love everybody! Look at it this way, anyone who intends harm on another really hurts himself, thus he is insane. Anyone who values material things over spiritual growth is insane. We're all insane! - Bonita

when we look deeply into ourselves, we can see the insanity
to defend ourselves, not just physically
we have ego that we have reached for throughout history
even a word an insult that we react to as if reacting is going to change anything
    I really like this
if we could start living this in our own life's in the smaller picture then perhaps it could change our nature of reacting.
    everything begins with one
and in every fight there are two or more
I wonder how much stronger is the one who walks away
very well thought out, an impressive write
    love the AN as well
    Thank you for your entry
    God bless you my friend...

Thank you for your comment and thoughts. Yes, it starts with the individual. Where else could it start? I added to my notes that this applies to nation to nation relationships as well as individual relationships. A nations' energy is the sum of all the energy in it. It can be excited or calmed down by it's leaders. God bless, my friend.
