want.

to blanket your
skin
the way that the February
snow melts
into the beaten prairie.

how i want to name every breath you take
nausicaa, gemini, andromeda
to hang them on the stars
the way
my mother pinned
the tired quilts
on the line.

the image of need, snow melting into the brown winter prairie. Not a need to create dependency, but a need to be there for each other, to compliment, celebrate, make greater. The whimsy, the love visible in serious silliness so joyous in the naming. The last image of color bled quilts, faded from use, used because the warmth they provide is forever. More importantly, the bedrock of love doing the hanging. In reflection the whimsy of star names for breaths and them fluttering in the vacuum of creation becomes more significant when it rests on the bedrock of a mothers endless demonstration of what love truly is.

Beautiful piece. So much packed in the delicate sketch you served to us. Thank you.
    Love,
