Blood And Lust

Lips touch in ecstasy
Hearts pump blood
Pulses raise
Cries erupt
Lust

Dagger and flesh
Connect and brake
Blood splatters
A cry erupts
Blood lust

One with out the other is love
One with out the other is hate
Together human  kind
Separate nothing more than pain

Hot blooded passion drives our species in its renewal and toward its destruction. Would we love if we were not capable of hate? Would we make love if we could not make war?

It has been remarked that the birth rate goes up in times of war. The poem considers the dual facets of humanity's carnality, and makes us wonder if this is just not perfectly natural and to be expected for human kind.
