Poetry That Doesn't Speak

There are a few students as I look about
None dare to speak or shout
Silence takes me by surprise
To see the sight before my very eyes

The rustle of bad and bodies ring
The teacher begins to write something
Blue is the color of the ink he will use
Laughing silently, this sight does amuse

So early in the morn
Every face does adorn
The look of sleep as plain as day
I seem to be as tired as they

Its definitely a sight to behold
Not one student is so bold
They don't dare to speak out of turn
Appearing to be here only to learn

They dare not show their smile
Laughing alone all the while
The professor speaks to all
Students sit straight as a wall

The sight makes me smile
But everyone else is in denial
Its pretty early in the day
Not one person has something to say.

Author notes

Ah, well I don't really like but today was the first day of my poetry class for my college degree and it was funny to see so many people silent and uncomfortable. You would think they had never attended school before. All you could hear was paper rustling and people shifting in their seats. And when the professor said something funny, no one would laugh, it was amusing to say the least.

Tell me, what did you think?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
